Ballinrostig Cheese handmade in East Cork

From the Netherlands originally Stephen learned his cheesemaking trade at the feet of his grandmother. When he came to Ireland more than 20 years ago he made goats cheese with milk from his own herd and in more recent times what was a hobby has turned into a full time job.

In 2013 the couple moved into and renovated Michele's family home in the village of Ballinrostig, in east Cork, transforming the garage into a purpose built cheese factory. Both Stephen and Michelle are also keen to bring the principals of Permaculture to the enterprise, and in the process, growing many of the ingredients they use and much of their own food.
